Why is it rare? Well most Elvis records of this time were only on 78rpm shellac. The first Vinyl Singles were released in USA by RCA Victor in 1949, but they took a bit longer to come over the pond. They provided a more durable replacement for the original brittle shellac discs.

The 1950s and 60s are often referred to as the golden age of the 7-inch single which was a staple of the music industry, with artists like The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elvis releasing multiple records per year. The market was driven by the charts, with Al Martino's "Here in My Heart" becoming the first official number-one single in the UK in 1952.

The 7-inch format hit its absolute peak in the UK in 1979, with sales reaching an all-time high of over 89 million, fueled by the explosive popularity of Punk, New Wave, and Disco.
